Review<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0cblG72RdZDjd2d922SMGun7nDLS2sb_P36kEvcxjMIckQab3gWBIEl8uwDboKfYvJ4w0zFGKW_qRnfCkhWjNNFvOrA9oNG0I3cA7NfdhtVElSFn9uByi2Dow1WqfcgjYAEWm0AwshWA/s1600/P1000322.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0cblG72RdZDjd2d922SMGun7nDLS2sb_P36kEvcxjMIckQab3gWBIEl8uwDboKfYvJ4w0zFGKW_qRnfCkhWjNNFvOrA9oNG0I3cA7NfdhtVElSFn9uByi2Dow1WqfcgjYAEWm0AwshWA/s320/P1000322.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I have never tried the Maybelline Eyestudio products. The eyeshadow quads always looked tempting, but I personally don't enjoy getting quads that have only shimmery shades or only matte shades. I appreciate the variety of textures when it comes to my palettes so that I can create an entire eye look just using that one palette...versus having to pull from other palettes if I happen to need a matte or shimmery shade. After watching Amarixe's drugstore eye tutorial using the new, limited edition Strut it Suede quad, I <b>knew </b>I had to have it. Finding this quad was a bit of a quest. They were sold out at my Walgreens and CVS because they are only a couple of them on each Maybelline display. Luckily, I found mine at a local Ulta store. When I went to reach for the Strut it Suede quad, I fell in love with Makeover Mocha. I love neutral quads, I just can't seem to get enough of them! I have to be completely honest, I absolutely <b><u>love</u></b> these two palettes!!! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The first three shades are incredibly silky smooth. The light champagne color is a frosty cream shade. The second and third shade are very wearable shades brown. They have a satin-like finish, and they come off looking matte on my eyes. The last shade is a little more gritty-feeling because there is some fine glitters, but the shade is gorgeous. I'm not usually into dark, charcoal shades--but I love this one!</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The first shade is another satin-finish brown. The second shimmery taupe shade is the real winner in this palette and really brightens up your eyes. The third and fourth shade are both browns with gold micro-glitters within the shadow. These shades are perfect for fall. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As you can see from the swatches, they are insanely pigmented. Just keep in mind that these shadows are also very easily blended and sometimes the intensity can be blended away. So the key with these shadows is to layer! </div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The third neutral quad I purchased was bought on a whim. All Sonia Kashuk quads were $10.00 versus the normal $12.99, so I decided to give this one a chance--especially since I was on a neutral eyeshadow kick. I was intrigued by the bottom left shade...which look beautifully, shiny. I thought the shadow was going to appear as if I was wearing liquid metal. Unfortunately, the shade was just glitter packed very tightly into the pan. When I was rubbing the shade for swatches, the shadow actually started crumbling and falling apart underneath my finger. I was sorely disappointed in this quad. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
Even though the other shades are nice, pigmented, smooth, etc...that shimmery, gold, bottom-left shade just really turned me off from the rest of the palette. </div><br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqbtavhN9MMhqp6igg7lSIf2dOq5SMQHfsWBedAYqBIFIa1B3vQ08JuW9oG4GH1DHZgOy2vTbmCwWrnL_qADyE_iTXMuColmSRDsoBrOp4vIipISqFz4lne78TDC9spFaTV4-aI76UV24/s1600/P1000329.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="270" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqbtavhN9MMhqp6igg7lSIf2dOq5SMQHfsWBedAYqBIFIa1B3vQ08JuW9oG4GH1DHZgOy2vTbmCwWrnL_qADyE_iTXMuColmSRDsoBrOp4vIipISqFz4lne78TDC9spFaTV4-aI76UV24/s320/P1000329.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">If you're looking for a nice neutral quad for fall or just for your collection, I highly recommend the Maybelline Eyestudio limited edition quads. The Sonia Kashuk one seems to be more readily available (Target), but if you can get your hands on the Maybelline--then go with it! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

They have gotten a lot of hype on youtube, and I was very very interested in trying them out myself. The blushes retail around $7.00 at the drugstore and $6.99 on the website. The bronzer was $8.99 on cherryculture.com. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfmR7Opk9L0h59Rc6JVZNkp7EncSZAj_hF7LYlZAkpL7XR5qhAtMwLyE2I-lif9uTzPIfC56M1SPX6SxJbPuNgrWCVFb_Dvix_mf_uST-k0VfoRqxdGbc0SA3H_j7Z_EHFKs0Z-BZSktw/s1600/milanibaked.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="186" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfmR7Opk9L0h59Rc6JVZNkp7EncSZAj_hF7LYlZAkpL7XR5qhAtMwLyE2I-lif9uTzPIfC56M1SPX6SxJbPuNgrWCVFb_Dvix_mf_uST-k0VfoRqxdGbc0SA3H_j7Z_EHFKs0Z-BZSktw/s320/milanibaked.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Honestly, I thought I would enjoy these baked products a lot more than I did. They have wonderful pigmentation and are absolutely stunning to look at, but I wasn't that pleased. I think it may have to do with the packaging, along with the gold shimmer. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">When you open the package, the actual blush part does not hook into the bottom compartment where the brush is stored. It makes the container feel cheap and not secure. I also hate that the packaging is so bulky. </div><div style="text-align: center;">The Chocolate Soleil Bronzer is a matte bronzing powder made with real cocoa. Let me tell you, the smell of it is absolutely amazing. It smells like hot cocoa powder with marshmellows. I think 60% of the reason why I bought it was because of the small. The other 40% is due to the fact that it is very pigmented, soft, smooth, and matte. I love it as an all-over bronzer as well as a contouring powder. It retails for about $30.00 at Sephora and Ulta, but if you can afford it, it's a lovely product! :)</div>EVC Makeuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12005661081632165420noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5480060505902735119.post-46922332701809403262011-08-22T19:37:00.000-07:002011-08-22T19:37:02.838-07:00UPDATE!I feel like I've been MIA for so long :(<br />
<br />
Work has been taking over my life, and I haven't been able to think about anything else--especially makeup. Fortunately for this blog and all who enjoy reading my posts, I spent a ridiculous amount of money on allcosmeticshwolesale.com and cherryculture.com. I couldn't help myself...I was having makeup withdrawals!<br />
<br />
I mostly purchased face products...more specifically, blushes. I purchased a couple of Milani baked blushes, Milani powder blushes, Loreal HIP cream blushes. I also got some other random face things like NYX concealers in a jar, Bobbi Brown color corrector in Bisque, and Loreal Magic Studio Perfecting Base.<br />
<br />
Items are currently shipping so hopefully I'll be able to do a haul video soon. I hope you all are enjoying life and taking it easy! :)EVC Makeuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12005661081632165420noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5480060505902735119.post-46622086373578531172011-07-27T20:21:00.000-07:002011-07-27T20:21:34.059-07:00ELF Studio Cream Eyeshadows<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">WARNING: I didn't do as a great of a job taking pictures of these swatches and labeling them so just bare with me :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Originally, I just had one shade: Dawn. I did research and read reviews on these cream shadows and Dawn seemed to get the most hype. Just as a heads up, Candlelight is still the one that gives people the most trouble as far as the product's consistency goes. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Although Dawn is a beautiful, shimmery, taupe shade...I realized that after receiving the rest of my cream eyeshadows, I noticed that the consistency and feel of Dawn wasn't as creamy and smooth as all the other ones I had purchased at a later date. Understand that my product may be a faulty one, but regardless...I still enjoy the shade. This is the only one that I have worn on it's own, and it seemed to hold up pretty well without creasing.</div><br />

I only have a few MAC eyeshadows because they are pricey, and I think there are cheaper alternatives that are just as pigmented, smooth, etc. Anyways, if you have been wanting to get your hands on MAC's Amber Lights..here is a dupe that is pretty darn close. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Go out to your drugstore and purchase Maybelline's Trio in Bronze Glitz. The top shade resembles it's high-end counterpart, and I don't think you'll be disappointed. The whole quad in itself is very pigmented and smooth, but most importantly, the texture of that top shade feels just as creamy and butter-smooth as Amber Lights. </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7-ECiHTSMDXIFB01mbuX7y5P-4ovASptnd7YHplus0oQH3S9vYQscWJN6p9-k3e-ybGSK28YYPBNa4iEMyZnnYO1lanNY7Qa_GDuiIlbFLRGwT8z8q6PGPrXBBfRCnpJ9FOguIB73A5Y/s1600/amberlights.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7-ECiHTSMDXIFB01mbuX7y5P-4ovASptnd7YHplus0oQH3S9vYQscWJN6p9-k3e-ybGSK28YYPBNa4iEMyZnnYO1lanNY7Qa_GDuiIlbFLRGwT8z8q6PGPrXBBfRCnpJ9FOguIB73A5Y/s320/amberlights.png" width="320" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">From the swatch, you can tell that Amber Lights is slightly more golden, but I promise the difference is so slight that they look almost identical on the eyelids. Yay for cheap alternatives! :D</div>EVC Makeuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12005661081632165420noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5480060505902735119.post-43878436424291710602011-07-20T08:58:00.000-07:002011-07-20T08:58:38.408-07:00ELF Mineral Eyeshadows<div style="text-align: center;">If you want to experiment with loose pigments at an affordable cost, you have to get your hands on some ELF Mineral Eyeshadows. The colors are absolutely gorgeous! I love placing the color onto the center of my lids because some of the eyeshadows look like liquid metal and give your eye that instant brightening look! These shadows retail for $3.00 each and can be found at<a href="http://eyeslipsface.com/"> eyeslipsface.com</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I swatched all the ELF mineral eyeshadows that I have below. Please forgive the images. I'm new to blogging so they aren't all aligned the same way and don't have that professional touch yet. However, all the pictures were taken without flash, without a primer, and in natural lighting. Also, remember that these shadows may appear differently on your skin!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Make sure to check out<a href="http://kaleidoscopecoloursx.blogspot.com/2011/07/how-to-diy-cream-eyeshadow-using.html"> Kat's blog</a> on an easy trick to use when applying these loose shadows or pigments so that there is no fall-out on your face. :)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

I used to have more of the colors, but I gave them away to people who would actually wear them. If you're into color, you should definitely check out their green shade in Earthy and their intense pink shade called Sweet. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I already have one of these studio blushes featured in one of my past posts on cream blushes called Heartbreaker. That product convinced me to purchase two more shades because of their lasting power and the way they apply onto the face. The texture is also too unique to pass up with a 60% sale going on! I thought Tease was a more natural color, while Vixen would be a great shade to wear during the fall season.</div><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This will be my first time trying a mineral lipstick. I have purchased all these mineral eye shadows in the past but decided to give them away to a friend. However, I decided that I missed having them in my collection. These mineral eye shadows are loose, pigmented, and shimmery. They are beautiful when layered on top of the eyelid! I'm sure I will do a post soon showing the swatches of all my ELF mineral eye shadows.</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I also already have two of these duo cream eye shadows, so this is just another one added to my collection! They are extremely pigmented and work as an amazing eye shadow base. They will crease when you wear them on your bare lid, but if you are wearing a green eye shadow, for example, you can make the green eye shadow appear brighter and more vibrant when you place the green cream eye shadow in a thin layer before applying the green eye shadow. </div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Finally, I have been waiting to get these babies in so that I can do a review and application post for one of my followers, <a href="http://kaleidoscopecoloursx.blogspot.com/">Kat </a>. For now, I can say that they are pigmented, smooth, and creamy! I have high hopes for these as I would love them to replace my expensive MAC Paint Pots. </div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">After almost 3 years, my professional blending brush is finally giving out and starting to come loose from the ferrule. 3 years is a pretty long time for such a soft, dense brush that only cost me $1.00. I also purchased the Studio Stippling brush because I have been wanting to try it out as a blush brush. I'll see how that works.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I picked up this little treasure at Sephora not too long ago, and if you rush now, you can still get a hold of it! It's a limited edition set located around the counter area at your local Sephora store. Each jar contains .13 oz of product--which may not sound like a whole lot, but because a little goes a long way with these products, you can bet that you will get plenty of uses out of each! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">If you buy each of these separately, you can expect to pay $28.00 for around .4 oz of product. Benefit's Feelin' Cheeky set is only $15.00 for a chance to test and try all 3! I felt so lucky to have found this product because I have been itching to try Benefit's products..specifically Benetint and High Beam!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The applicators resemble nail polish wands, and they do a pretty good job of placing the product where it needs to go. For the most part, you're using your hands to blend and apply anyways...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">For darker/tanner skin tones, such as my own, you need to apply a couple of layers to get a good flush on your cheeks. Don't even think about getting Posietint as a cheek stain because it just won't show up! As a lip stain, though, both work well and look nice with a gloss topped over. High beam was my favorite out of this trio because it gave me the most natural highlights on my face. I placed a couple of small dots on my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, and my cupid's bow for a light, shimmer effect!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>EVC Makeuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12005661081632165420noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5480060505902735119.post-4548720021417022162011-07-06T12:03:00.000-07:002011-07-06T19:33:00.945-07:00My Favorite Summer Cream Blushes<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_V3Cizql5sR6eq6n4dPMT9RIe9_7c8dMT9FSOur3ODTmn-fRm5mAxq-4dK-wf1q6yHuPinr9MeQ2jRBQDV5wBWLdHg0QhMIHCn-zjrw1hiTh0GmlX8X4IlqXOB6neazTizqcDucKkqZQ/s1600/blushes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_V3Cizql5sR6eq6n4dPMT9RIe9_7c8dMT9FSOur3ODTmn-fRm5mAxq-4dK-wf1q6yHuPinr9MeQ2jRBQDV5wBWLdHg0QhMIHCn-zjrw1hiTh0GmlX8X4IlqXOB6neazTizqcDucKkqZQ/s320/blushes.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I love a dewy, fresh-faced glow for the summer. To help me achieve that look, I turn to my creamy blush products! Shown above are my favorites...E.L.F. cream blush in Heartbreaker, NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Glow, Two NYC Blushable Creme Sticks in South St. Seashell and Pink Flash (special edition), and Benefit's Benetint. Let's take a closer look at each! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This blush really wakes the face up! It's super creamy though, and it can be applied with your fingers...however, I suggest using a stippling brush or a synthetic brush because a little goes a long way.</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">You can see here just how delicate the product is because I accidentally nicked it while I was trying to pick it up. Boo...anyways, here's a swatch!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It's pretty vibrant on my medium/tan skin, but don't worry...we can blend it out!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg4gAmQJuAHvgQptDcYz1etnWbBb7FAdlXxgQl9yTeiaM4IqyDQZXPJB6ELdRBom9asclhFxTA2l-kc5Fqai6yszBVFeVtnWMQiEIeOVGuDif-B7EOq7dV2ek4rw9tIsq1eaai_1_m-3Q/s1600/nyx4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg4gAmQJuAHvgQptDcYz1etnWbBb7FAdlXxgQl9yTeiaM4IqyDQZXPJB6ELdRBom9asclhFxTA2l-kc5Fqai6yszBVFeVtnWMQiEIeOVGuDif-B7EOq7dV2ek4rw9tIsq1eaai_1_m-3Q/s320/nyx4.jpg" width="274" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This blush is easily build-able for those days that you just want to look extra flushed. Below is another thin layer of Glow:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4ELEwSi3iX8iFyxObFej0NLuN-FGJzmR60BeGDc3GoYIuuQfG7avL4yiTVrorx3BciuyGJcM3IpNBthzcoIIHZyv2whGbY9juYnuxZteMKmQeeIOHZVaBDheEyKIrBg6iS3478lzvuL4/s1600/nyx5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4ELEwSi3iX8iFyxObFej0NLuN-FGJzmR60BeGDc3GoYIuuQfG7avL4yiTVrorx3BciuyGJcM3IpNBthzcoIIHZyv2whGbY9juYnuxZteMKmQeeIOHZVaBDheEyKIrBg6iS3478lzvuL4/s320/nyx5.jpg" width="269" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Hopefully you can see a slight difference. Trust me, it's more obvious on your face!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> Next up is ELF's Studio Line cream blush in Heartbreaker. This is another vibrant, BAM! in your face color. The consistency of this blush is very different from any I've tried before. It's squishy, foamy, and kind of reminds me of playdough. I really like it though because it's also very buildable and the color lasts a good while on the cheeks. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">On my skin, you can tell that the color appears more muted than what is shown in the jar. This could also be due to my lighting..it was a cloudy day, so I apologize!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">If you're looking for a product that is inexpensive and readily available in stores such as Rite-Aid, Target, and Walmart...try NYC Blushable Creme Sticks. I believe they retail for $3.99 at Rite-Aid. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">South St. Seashell (left) is part of their permanent line, where as Pink Flash (right) is not. One thing I noticed about these creme sticks is that the color of the tube is the same as the product! Pink Flash is matte, while South St. Seashell is a light beige/brown with a slight shimmer or satin finish. I believe that these blushable creme sticks come in different finishes. </div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These blushable creme sticks are in fact creamy and easily blendable. They also have incredible pigmentation..which may be difficult to see because of my tanned skin tone. I don't think the lasting power of these creme sticks are very good on their own, but they are a wonderful base for helping your powdered shadows last longer. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Three layers. PERFECT...for me =P Keep in mind that if you are fairer in skin tone, you will not need as many applications to get the product to show up. I love this tint because it really does last a good few hours for me, and it gives me the most natural.."i just took a run around the neighborhood" flush. Right now, you can get a Benefit minis set called "feelin' cheeky!" at Sephora stores near the check-out area. It includes posie tint, high beam, and benefit for $15.00--which is a steal! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Choosing what you believe you would need in your own personal makeup kit can be overwhelming. This post shows you some options on what you could add to your makeup bag to help you apply makeup. Of course, you don't have to buy everything I show because not everyone does a full face of makeup every day. Just use your best judgement in deciding what will work best for you. I recommend starting out with some E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face) brushes because they are inexpensive and decent quality. You can find these at eyeslipsface.com or in the makeup aisle at Target stores. Specifically, you should pick up the E.L.F. $1 eye shadow brush, the $1 blending brush, and the $3 Studio Powder brush. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Keep in mind that these types of brushes will look different depending on the brand, size, and color...so choose according to what you think will work for you. For example, don't pick a big, dome-shaped, fluffy blending brush that covers your entire eyelid...if you have a small eyelid... you catch my drift? =P</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Foundation Brushes:</b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">The ones shown below are general ones that can be found in most makeup aisles. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizhyphenhyphenWVMopmnb_l6QRLnEuvSc9GPr9ZXjC56mmiEu_VShq0ZomNQiWK7HyD63P2SsKSJ3tH6OkLUvepEZh9Sw60wPsuCs0-0npi42FncVmXo5tVBjBD-_XwalJVclVrKPRF0A8BDrRp1pA/s1600/image_4+%25281%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="233" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizhyphenhyphenWVMopmnb_l6QRLnEuvSc9GPr9ZXjC56mmiEu_VShq0ZomNQiWK7HyD63P2SsKSJ3tH6OkLUvepEZh9Sw60wPsuCs0-0npi42FncVmXo5tVBjBD-_XwalJVclVrKPRF0A8BDrRp1pA/s320/image_4+%25281%2529.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Foundation can be applied using many various techniques. If you don't know what foundation is, it's a liquid makeup that is applied all over your face and blended down your neck to even out your skin tone and cover any facial imperfections you might have. You can use your fingers, a synthetic paddle brush, a stippling brush, or just a cosmetic sponge. Why the variety in application? Well, depending on what kind of foundation you're using and what look you're going for, the way you apply the foundation can vary. Here's some examples of what I mean: if you want your foundation to be sheer, or light...you might use a cosmetic sponge because a good percentage of the foundation will be absorbed into the sponge so only a thin layer of foundation will actually apply onto your face. If you're going for an airbrushed look, you might use the stippling brush to continuously stipple on sections of your face until the coverage is to your liking. If you have a cream foundation, you might use the synthetic powder brush to give you the smoothest, most even application. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Of course if you don't want or need foundation, skip out on purchasing these brushes!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Fluffy Brushes: </b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv8acJZmyIsZKkJG_ise2JMmdHT4Vya_WEcBYCJpb32IvM2NRDNgAo1FxG68dNhyphenhyphenMICGTIS0rroxb6j0UTPLApRfZ_h-Xw1Qgqhg30UOxR_eCM0RWJ6pVgEZBVIkVeXzAzthyCHjvM8TI/s1600/powderbrushes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv8acJZmyIsZKkJG_ise2JMmdHT4Vya_WEcBYCJpb32IvM2NRDNgAo1FxG68dNhyphenhyphenMICGTIS0rroxb6j0UTPLApRfZ_h-Xw1Qgqhg30UOxR_eCM0RWJ6pVgEZBVIkVeXzAzthyCHjvM8TI/s320/powderbrushes.jpg" width="293" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I call them fluffy because they can be used for multiple purposes. I've labeled each brush as what I use them for, but I always switch it up using the flat top powder brush for blush or the blush brush for bronzer. You see what I mean? Brushes are multi-purpose. You don't always have to use them the way that their packaging suggests. I love large paddle brushes for applying bronzer because they help me blend the bronzer into the hollows of my cheeks and into my temples for easy contouring. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Eye Brushes:</b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><br />
</b></div><div style="text-align: center;">There are a ton of eye makeup brushes out there. In my opinion, these are the basics that every girl should have <b>IF </b>she wants to increase the number of brushes in her collection. These are also the brushes that I love and use when doing my own eye makeup. However, if you really want to save the money and time, it <i>is </i>possible to do a makeup look with just one eye shadow or shader brush. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt9qODeh6groOGSRun57vxK8JqbKJaFr190WnkXT7vov6F2EkBGwYZleVoVm_jIYGMhnNbTVwP3ULLLr_FahERGkLGVFw-x6Jrx5n1Ww_qBD0SewaSUVTMgzvvILa64FweWxS_b7jh_pQ/s1600/eyebrushes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="203" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt9qODeh6groOGSRun57vxK8JqbKJaFr190WnkXT7vov6F2EkBGwYZleVoVm_jIYGMhnNbTVwP3ULLLr_FahERGkLGVFw-x6Jrx5n1Ww_qBD0SewaSUVTMgzvvILa64FweWxS_b7jh_pQ/s320/eyebrushes.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">An eye shadow brush, sometimes called a shader brush, helps you deposit color onto your eyelids. They have a flat, paddle shaped look to them and they are usually kind of stiff so that they can pack on more color. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS5G8R3J-PR3q3bOlYEYLkJ2gLI8XYsBv7-zAbUQuf01xeGXW644zSKABo_1SDAr3PiIPgO7cvE1c6iGlm041lklo6Q6z3EYDsY3n9WjfibHxfRmB_HRaQTQxdNJGVUjt6Jwln-Uvgte4/s1600/shaderbrush.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS5G8R3J-PR3q3bOlYEYLkJ2gLI8XYsBv7-zAbUQuf01xeGXW644zSKABo_1SDAr3PiIPgO7cvE1c6iGlm041lklo6Q6z3EYDsY3n9WjfibHxfRmB_HRaQTQxdNJGVUjt6Jwln-Uvgte4/s320/shaderbrush.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">A blending brush is usually dome shaped and fluffy so that it can help blur the harsh edges that eye shadow can create on our eyelids. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_smXLE6MBl4wqaKhhjnVl2lasUV4IcM_EXb77rwAkoxFVAh0BwhMEYBvbCqVqMHUbjyKroUcK61S7fxIWrP0r78j96NnPYQAg10blREHoFxQKAlAaCw12S0omxVtbcUMue7TF0T0jY-o/s1600/blendingbrush.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_smXLE6MBl4wqaKhhjnVl2lasUV4IcM_EXb77rwAkoxFVAh0BwhMEYBvbCqVqMHUbjyKroUcK61S7fxIWrP0r78j96NnPYQAg10blREHoFxQKAlAaCw12S0omxVtbcUMue7TF0T0jY-o/s320/blendingbrush.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Angled Eyeliner brushes can be used to apply gel eyeliner, but I love them especially for setting my eyeliner. After I put eyeliner on my eyes, I use this brush to place dark eye shadow over the eyeliner. It keeps the eyeliner from smudging or fading throughout the day! It can also work as a great lip brush because the preciseness of the brush can keep you from applying your lipstick or gloss outside the lines of your lips! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpkCJGd4n8gzcQVlbgF5FD6HEdnAq8CasxjcVbmWS3xxqNmSVUEocRDR7nXksnI3n-KPECtq55soK4PLPCrzK1HVR1xiksK32wkjwc2FG0jltvc4Kl5qAiI6Ne9c8N3lTEcIevbSapFlQ/s1600/eyelinerbrush.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpkCJGd4n8gzcQVlbgF5FD6HEdnAq8CasxjcVbmWS3xxqNmSVUEocRDR7nXksnI3n-KPECtq55soK4PLPCrzK1HVR1xiksK32wkjwc2FG0jltvc4Kl5qAiI6Ne9c8N3lTEcIevbSapFlQ/s320/eyelinerbrush.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">A pencil brush or small precision brush can help you smudge shadow or eyeliner under your lower lash line. It can also help you create your outer v (the outer corner of your eye) so that your makeup look has more depth and dimension. You can also use it to blend on certain areas of your eye makeup look or to pop in a shimmery shadow for an inner corner highlight. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt7WLJm93ig_rZzJ2u8qiD92ottd4ckoRlQiLNU2669p5-O_ECWRoJoItlZ3EkwXxO5XLqUai9GCoqWXx0TgtMSRLMsP3ivCIasBpV6QAeeC92EOEPHCM6AclSUy9emEQzwRf10Rm-_RI/s1600/pencilbrush.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt7WLJm93ig_rZzJ2u8qiD92ottd4ckoRlQiLNU2669p5-O_ECWRoJoItlZ3EkwXxO5XLqUai9GCoqWXx0TgtMSRLMsP3ivCIasBpV6QAeeC92EOEPHCM6AclSUy9emEQzwRf10Rm-_RI/s320/pencilbrush.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

Even though I love the look of flawless skin, I prefer to let my real skin show. One thing I feel like I can't live without..or would not want to live without..is my concealer. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I like to use concealer under my eyes to hide dark circles, around my nose to neutralize redness, and over the occasional blemish/zit. I prefer drugstore concealers because I think you can find affordable ones that work just as well as any overpriced one at Sephora or Ulta. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">When looking for a concealer, you'll find that they come in many different forms. You might see them in stick form, within a palette, in a pot/jar, in a squeeze tube, etc. One thing you should know is different concealer consistencies perform best for different things. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Thick, creamy concealers are good for covering up blemishes, zits, or scars. My Coastal Scents concealer palette is perfect for covering imperfections on my face--however, it's way too thick to use under my eyes. If I use it under my eyes, I find that my bags are even more obvious because the thickness causes my skin to dry out, flake, and look cakey...ew. Definitely not a pretty look.</div><br />

The top left shade is shimmery because it is actually a cream highlight color. Below the shimmery white is a green concealer to counteract redness in your skin. Below the green, is a lavender, which counteracts yellow tones in your skin, and the top shade in the second column is a yellow that helps counteract purple/blue tones in your skin. Color correctors can be useful if a regular concealer shade alone doesn't do the trick! If you decide to purchase this concealer palette, it retails for 14. 95 on coastalscents.com. The reason my concealers appear to be scratched up is because I felt like my concealers were drying out, so I scraped the top layer off of each concealer pan. I find that it's convenient to use on my clients because it caters to all different skin tones.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Next is my Revlon Age Defying concealer. I think this retails around $10.00 at drugstores like Rite-Aid, CVS, and Walgreens...but I'm pretty sure you can find it for cheaper at Target or Wal-Mart. I really like this one for under-eye circles because it's a more liquidy consistency AND it's moisturizing! Because your under-eyes don't contain oil glands, your skin tends to be very dry there..so any extra moisture is good! Also, there is an SPF 25--even more protection! :) </div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My Revlon PhotoReady concealer is currently my favorite. Most concealers that come in stick form are drying and can look caked up on your skin if you add too many layers onto it. However, this one performs wonders for my dark bags and the redness around my nose. The texture is smooth, creamy, and blends very naturally into the skin. It retails for $9.99 in drugstores, but you can save yourself a couple of bucks by purchasing at Target for $8.00. My shade is in Medium which is perfect for my current tanned complexion. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Concealer Using <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">TIP</span></b>: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">To keep your concealer lasting on your face all day, set the concealer using a face powder: pressed or loose. You can find face powder for really cheap. Just take a brush/sponge you have or the applicator it comes with and pat a thin layer of powder over the areas you applied concealer. This is a necessary step in keeping your makeup lasting longer and fresher throughout the whole day..especially in this hot, humid weather!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I know what I like to watch on youtube or research on other peoples' blogs, but I want to know what you would like to see. I have tried and have a bunch of makeup--what can I say? It's my own personal collecting hobby...if there is something you're curious about relating to how to apply makeup, an eye-makeup tutorial, or how certain makeup products work--ask me by leaving a comment so that I have something to blog about that would be of interest to you! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

(Eye and Face)<div style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: center;">What is an<b> Eye Primer </b>and how does it work?</div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div><div style="text-align: center;">An eye primer works as a barrier between your eyelids and your eye shadow. A lot of times your eyelids become oily and cause your eye shadow to breakdown and crease. Creasing occurs when you can see a thin line of skin between your eye shadow on your lid from natural folds in your eye when you open and close them. Having a thin layer of primer over your eyes before applying your eye shadow can keep your makeup from creasing. An eye primer also keeps your eye shadow colors looking vibrant and fresh throughout your day. </div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">The price of eye shadow primers can range anywhere from $1.00 - $20.00 depending on where you purchase. Keep in mind that what works for me may not work for you because the level of oiliness produced by your eyelids are unique to you :P Listed below are eye shadow primers that I have/had and know work for me: </div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">- Too Faced Shadow Insurance ($18.00 Sephora.com)</div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">- Urban Decay Primer Potion ($19.00 Sephora.com)</div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">- Mac Paint Pots ($16.50 maccosmetics.com)</div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">- E.L.F. Mineral Eye shadow Primer ($3.00 eyeslipsface.com)</div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">- NYX HD Eye shadow base ($7.00 nyxcosmetics.com)</div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">Another eye primer that you can find without ordering online that I have not tried is the Palladio Herbal Eye Primer sold at Sally Beauty Supply stores for $8.00. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3I9c4pViAqyu9YWZAVLlti2z30FNE0lDe_KH3NTXMl9EgBp2bCc8nrk0600TwFLJI95REebJOUzMxGzftKFWiR61N-MpD1MPj1sRbNhCDrCxOeI21eDs8Nv7MuDzZm8lq1XHw-deiz_0/s1600/eyeprimers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3I9c4pViAqyu9YWZAVLlti2z30FNE0lDe_KH3NTXMl9EgBp2bCc8nrk0600TwFLJI95REebJOUzMxGzftKFWiR61N-MpD1MPj1sRbNhCDrCxOeI21eDs8Nv7MuDzZm8lq1XHw-deiz_0/s320/eyeprimers.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">While the cost of an eye primer sounds pretty expensive, purchasing one is worth the investment. They last for a good amount of time (at least three months) and prolong your eye makeup so that you don't have to worry about reapplying throughout the day or doing touch-ups to keep the eyes looking fresh. I apply my makeup in the morning, and I don't touch it again until I am getting ready to go to bed. </div></div>EVC Makeuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12005661081632165420noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5480060505902735119.post-46459192634567891542011-06-28T09:30:00.000-07:002011-06-28T09:30:57.046-07:00Hard Candy Sheer Envy Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15This product claims to go on sheer to enhance your natural complexion, while giving you a natural satin finish plus protective SPF15. This is written right on the back of the tube. While it does actually perform extremely well as a tinted moisturizer providing a great amount of coverage, this product did not work for me. <div><br />
</div><div>Unfortunately, the ingredients in the tube began separating about a month after I purchased. As the pictures show below, you can see where the product has become liquidy, watery, clumpy, and crumbly. This is my second tube of this tinted moisturizer because the first one separated just as this one did, but I wanted to give the moisturizer one last chance. </div><div><br />

</div><div><br />
</div><div>I'm actually pretty bummed because I did like the feel, wear, and coverage of this tinted moisturizer. I'm not sure if light exposure, heat, or maybe oxygen in itself getting into the makeup product is what causes the separation...If I try to shake the bottle up, the ingredients seem to mix again, but the application still doesn't go on as smoothly and flawlessly as it did when I first purchased.</div><div><br />

Since then, I've been able to do makeup for sorority girls going to socials, models for a local magazine, models for Fashion and Design Student Association's fashion show, and finally...Whitney's Wedding.<br />
<br />
I've been good friends with Whitney since freshman year (college) of 2007. It was an honor for me to get to do her makeup on her big day. I wanted to share some of the products as well as the work that I did on her already beautiful face :)<br />
<br />
Her request was to look very natural--making sure to look polished and radiant!<br />
<br />

Don't let anyone ever tell you that high-end makeup is the best makeup. By high-end, I mean MAC, Urban Decay, Lancome, whatever. There are hits and misses to every brand...you just need to experiment in order to find what works well for you. There are plenty of makeup products in the drugstore that are just as good, if not better, than their high end counterparts.<br />
<br />
Here is a list of products I used on Whitney's face (both drugstore and higher end):<br />
<u>Face:</u><br />
- Hard Candy Sheer Envy Face Primer<br />
- Revlon Colorstay Foundation<br />
- Revlon Age Defying Concealer<br />
- MAC's Paint Pot in Coral Crepe (cheeks)<br />

- Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Light<br />
<br />

- Wet n Wild brow pencil in Taupe<br />
- Too Faced Shadow Insurance<br />
- Urban Decay Naked Palette<br />
- Maybelline Volume Express Colossal Mascara<br />
- Milani Liquif'eye Eyeliner<br />
<br />
